The Beach Bum (2019) tells the story of a man named Moondog living by his own rules, living freely and called a stoner or someone who regularly uses drugs, especially marijuana.
The film was directed and written by director Harmony Korine in collaboration with Steve Golin and John Lesher as a producer. In addition to being a director and scriptwriter Harmony Korine is also a book writer and artist who has previously worked on many film titles including Ulien Donkey-Boy (1999), Mister Lonely (2007), Trash Humpers (2009), and Spring Breakers (2012).
The comedy genre film is scheduled to be released on March 29 next year and is distributed by Neon in collaboration with production companies Anonymous Content and VICE Films.
Synopsis
The Beach Bum tells the story of a man named Moondog (Matthew McConaughey) who was once a best-selling poet who amazed the masses with his unique views of the world, producing a small fortune as well. Currently, Moondog lives a good life in Key West who creates drug routines while his wife Minnie (Isla Fisher) stays at home in Miami, Moondog sleeps with family friends and a drug king named Lingerie (Snoop Dogg).
Ordered to return home for the marriage of his only daughter named Heather (Stefania LaVie Owen), Moondog was so reluctant to reunite with Minnie, trying to avoid too much detection from his agent named Lewis (Jonah Hill) who was sick and tired of asking for new material. Dealing with writer’s block and realizing Minnie’s relationship and Lingerie, Moondog remained with weed and beer to be able to obstruct the world. But when tragedy struck, the poet soon left other than the future in rehabilitation, inspiring him to be able to find a way to live a higher life forever.
